Staying healthy is a goal for many. Some do so by exercising regularly while others try to maintain optimal health by eating right. Unfortunately, there are certain illnesses which can come about unexpectedly and disrupt one’s healthy living goals. Hyperlipidemia is one medical condition which can pop up and surprise individuals. Such ailments can be treated at a Florida health clinic. The following will detail what hyperlipidemia is all about and how it is treated. |
Understanding Hyperlipidemia |
Hyperlipidemia can best be described as an excess of lipids, or fatty substances, within the blood. There are two varieties of hyperlipidemia which are hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia. The first type is an instance of high cholesterol whereas the next one deals with high amounts of triglycerides, or fat. Hyperlipidemia is a concern for those who have it as it can lead to a blockage of the arteries and ultimately a heart attack and also coronary heart disease. Many who have hyperlipidemia do not know it right away as it usually has no distinct symptoms and only is discovered when the individual has a physical examination or has another medical condition which draws attention to it. |
How Is Hyperlipidemia Treated? |
Before a Florida health clinic doctor will treat your hyperlipidemia, they will usually look to see if any other medical conditions exist which could have led to the introduction of the hyperlipidemia. Once the health clinic Florida physician has identified any other possible conditions they will then look to treating the hyperlipidemia head on. Hyperlipidemia is often treated with changes in diet, increases in exercise and possibly medication to take care of any residual problems left over from the hyperlipidemia condition. The good news is that if it is caught in time, hyperlipidemia is treatable.
